Upgrades to Qualify for The Canada Greener Homes Grant

In Cooling, Energy Efficiency, Heating, Promos, Residential HVAC

The Government of Canada recently announced a $2.6 billion retrofit program called the Canada Greener Homes Grant that will pay homeowners to make energy-efficient upgrades to their homes.

Here are the details on how you can qualify for the Canada Greener Homes Grant and how Therm-All can help you capitalize on the savings.

What Is The Canada Greener Homes Grant?

The Canada Greener Home Grant intends to help Canadians make energy-efficient upgrades to their homes, as Canadian homes account for around 18% of total greenhouse gas emissions in our nation. Through the grant, we can begin to work toward decreasing that number, growing domestic green supply chains, and fighting climate change.

What Is Available Through The Grant?

Here are the three components of the initiative:

  1. Up to 700,000 grants of up to $5,000 available for homeowners to make these energy-efficient changes in areas like thermostats, heating, and renewable energy.
  2. EnerGuide evaluations and expert advice worth up to $600 to help homeowners with plans for retrofitting.
  3. Recruitment and training of EnerGuide advisors in order to meet demand.

How Do I Qualify for The Canada Greener Homes Grant?

By visiting the Natural Resources Canada (NRCAN) website, you will find a five-step guide for planning your home retrofits. Here is an outline of the steps:

Step 1: Learn about the initiative

Step 2: Register and book your pre-retrofit evaluation

Step 3: Plan, document, and complete your home retrofits

Step 4: Book your post-retrofit evaluation and apply for reimbursement

How Can Therm-All Help With My Retrofit?

We are excited to help homeowners take advantage of the Canada Greener Homes Grant and help our country fight climate change. Here are some of the home retrofits that we can assist you with:

Heating

With our cold climate, 60% of the average Canadian home’s energy consumption comes from space heating. We install and service high-efficiency, top-of-the-line heating systems to keep your home warm during the cold winter months. One of the eligible retrofits homeowners are encouraged to make is energy-efficient heating equipment. This can reduce your home’s carbon footprint and help save on your utility bill.

Thermostats

The Greener Homes Grant allows homeowners looking to upgrade to a smart or programmable thermostat to qualify for the grant. As part of eligibility, thermostat upgrades must be combined with another retrofit.

To see a full list of all eligible retrofits, visit the NRCA website. If you have questions about the Canada Greener Homes Grant or about energy-efficient upgrades we can help you with, don’t hesitate to reach out to our team — we are happy to help!
